Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) is a less invasive surgical approach than traditional surgery. Small incisions (no bigger than half an inch) are made, instead of a large incision for open surgery. Patients heal faster from smaller incisions, and with less pain, but with all the benefits of traditional open surgery.
MIGS is for women with benign and complex gynecologic conditions. These include polyps, scarring/adhesions in the uterus, uterine septum, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, blocked tubes, scarring in the pelvis, fibroids and more. Advanced treatment options include hysteroscopic surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery, as well as robotic assisted surgery. Physicians certified in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery have additional surgical training and expertise to manage complications using minimally invasive surgical techniques and specialized tools and instruments.

This certification was offered by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the first time in 2021. Dr. Tendai Chiware is among the very first physicians to obtain this sought after certification.
Our patients will benefit from an expert in Reproductive Surgery and MIGS being part of their care team. Women who have had their tubes removed, or sterilization in the past, can have this reversed at GENESIS and do not necessarily need to have IVF.
